Both Jimmy and Barry Sime are extremely competitive individuals and having competed directly themselves and been involved in running many successful motorsport programmes over the years they are able to put this experience to good use to help Sime Racing’s customers. Having experience on both sides of the pit wall and importantly in also the business side of the sport, helping to secure the marketing partners to make the racing possible and helping to deliver value for money solutions, to keep them coming back. Below is a short selection of our success stories over the last few year and some long standing customers and partners:
Scott Morrison
In 2007 we worked with racing novice; Scott Morrison. Scott approached us to help him make the first steps after winning the FHM VXR driver of the year in 2006 and we helped develop a racing programme that fitted his aspirations and budget. This encompassed sourcing a suitable car and spares package, ongoing driver coaching, sponsorship and partner procurement, pr services and of course the preparation and management of his racing car itself. Scott drove very well throughout the season and won the hotly contested Scottish Fiesta Newcomers Championship as well as finishing 3rd overall in the Championship, after picking up a string of podium positions along the way. This year we are again working together with Scott progression to the Smartycars.com Scottish Mini Cooper Cup and we have helped him secure continued support from FHM magazine once again.
Sime Racing have been involved with Paisley based Reid Kerr College since 2001 in a number of mutually beneficial initiatives. This has ranged from branding on Sime racing and SRE Motorsport race cars to Barry Sime attending various functions and hosting talks with students etc. This year the college are heavily involved in our Corporate Hospitality event again at Knockhill in August and their branding is adorning Scott Morrison’s Mini Cooper racecar.
The Independent and the Independent on Sunday have been involved with Sime Racing and SRE Motorsport for a number of years, primarily supporting our corporate hospitality events with their quality “Newspapers of the year” and reinforcing the partnership with some major branding on our racecars.
TM Andrew (Plant Hire) Ltd
Have been customers of Sime racing for several years through our Corporate Hospitality events and also involved officially in our racing programmes since the 1990s as official team partners. In recent years we have also helped drivers such as Neil Waterworth, Jonathan Young, Barry Sime, Iain Fraser, Scott Fraser, Phil House and David Brown amongst other achieve podium success in many categories (from Clio’s, Seat’s, Formula Ford, etc).
