Scott Morrison had an awesome final race of the season at Knockhill recently – taking a fine 4th overall.
With the last two races of the series being held at Knockhill, the title protagonists were keen to make their mark and lift the silverware.
Scott had a safe first race bringing the car home relatively (!) unscathed in 8th, following his fastest qualifying times of the season.
Race 2 however was a different matter – Scott being well warned by seasoned campaigners Barry and Jimmy Sime that most of the grid would be going into the last race with true “last day at school” mentality. How true this turned out to be! dismal weather conditions greeted the cars for the start and Scott made steady progress initially. Lap 3 saw a little too much excitement right at the head of the field when the top 5 cars had an incident going into the first bend, eliminating race one victor Chris Knox and Mark Dryden. A few laps later and our man was up to third overall once again… With conditions worsening, Scott was just a little too cautious though and let Ian Milton through. The spectators were kept on the edge of their seats with Kenny Thirwall having a few “moments through Scotsman corner, this was where they stayed though till the final chequered flag of the season – New Champion Vic Covey leading home Thirwall (second overall for the 2nd year in a row) and Ian Milton.
Scott had a great end to the year with his podium at Doune and 4th at Knockhill, we were left pondering what might have been had Scott not had to miss the middle part of the season due to business commitments.
Special thanks to FHM.com, Nu Trend Floors and Reid Kerr College for their help and support throughout Scott’s racing programme this year.
