Ginetta G50 Testing

March 9th, 2009 Posted in News | No Comments »

Monday 9th March saw Barry Sime and Scott Morrison attend the first official Ginetta Championship test of the year at Snetterton in Norfolk.  Sime using the opportunity to get behind a Ginetta G50, which is a 300bhp, V6 GT car, and Morrison sampling rear wheel drive for the first time with a test in a Ginetta G20.

Sime was on-track competatively for the first time in a while and ended up not too far behind old team-mate and championship favourite Carl Breeze with undoutedly the most powerful racing car he has driven to date.

Morrison meanwhile is weighing up options for 2010 after electing to sell his Mini Cooper and look at racing in other series and progressed well with his first visit to Snetterton.

Morrison ends season on a high

October 20th, 2008 Posted in News, Scott Morrison | No Comments »

Scott Morrison had an awesome final race of the season at Knockhill recently – taking a fine 4th overall.

With the last two races of the series being held at Knockhill, the title protagonists were keen to make their mark and lift the silverware.

Scott had a safe first race bringing the car home relatively (!) unscathed in 8th, following his fastest qualifying times of the season.

Race 2 however was a different matter – Scott being well warned by seasoned campaigners Barry and Jimmy Sime that most of the grid would be going into the last race with true “last day at school” mentality.  How true this turned out to be!  dismal weather conditions greeted the cars for the start and Scott made steady progress initially.  Lap 3 saw a little too much excitement right at the head of the field when the top 5 cars had an incident going into the first bend, eliminating race one victor Chris Knox and Mark Dryden.  A few laps later and our man was up to third overall once again…  With conditions worsening, Scott was just a little too cautious though and let Ian Milton through.  The spectators were kept on the edge of their seats with Kenny Thirwall having a few “moments through Scotsman corner, this was where they stayed though till the final chequered flag of the season – New Champion Vic Covey leading home Thirwall (second overall for the 2nd year in a row) and Ian Milton.

Scott had a great end to the year with his podium at Doune and 4th at Knockhill, we were left pondering what might have been had Scott not had to miss the middle part of the season due to business commitments.

Special thanks to FHM.com, Nu Trend Floors and Reid Kerr College for their help and support throughout Scott’s racing programme this year.

Morrison’s podium on Hillclimb debut

October 1st, 2008 Posted in Scott Morrison | No Comments »

Scott Morrison scored a great podium on his recent debut at the hillclimb at Doune on 28th September.

The event was a round of the STV.tv Scottish Mini Cooper Championship and most of the leading contenders in the series were present, making the podium even more sweet and with Scott missing out on a few of the championship rounds earlier in the year, it was great to get back up there.

The next rounds take place at Knockhill during October – watch this space to hear if Scott can keep the momentum going to end the season on a high…
