Sime Racing mountain bikers run in “10 Under the Ben” again
June 2nd, 2009 Posted in News
SimeRacing once again entered a squad in the 5th running of the gruelling “10 Under the Ben” ten hour mountain bike race at the weekend with Barry Sime and Stuart Andrew in the saddle.
Scorching 26 degree heat welcomes the 1,000 or so riders to a very picture-postcard setting, in the shadows of the famous Ben Nevis mountain range.
The heat eliminated some of the riders during the ten hour, relay style race, however Stuart and Barry brought it home again completing 8 laps in total of the near 12 mile cross country course and finishing a creditable 81st out of the 186 pairs entered.
Once again they beat close rivals Ross (Potter) Crawford and Michael Curran in the Slime Time entry (yes the Sime boys won the bet for a second year running
). Other notable finishers was former Sime racing Hospitality Manager Graham Farr in the “Team Don Logan”entry putting in some consistent times. Also a congratulations to Stephen Lambie and fellow ARDS instructor James Watson in the “Team Rocket” entry finishing 26th in the pairs! well done indeed.

Well done Sime Racing. Better luck next time “Slime Time”. And a very close race indeed – with some nail biting climbs seeing Sime Racing go into 2nd place by some margin against their nemesis several times!
All in a cracking day/weekend, and looking forward to the dinner you promised us Baz. I fully expect your team to make good on your promise.
